Indonesia arrests terror suspects

Indonesian police have arrested terrorists in East and Central Java provinces, suspected of planning several attacks in government offices and banks operating in Blitar city, East Java province.

- Indonesian police have arrested terrorists inEast and Central Java provinces, suspected of planning several attacks ingovernment offices and banks operating in Blitar city, East Java province.

The six terror suspects arrested in Blitar and in Central Jaga regency ofKaranganyar on June 13-14 were members of the local radical group JamaahAnsharut Daulah (JAD) linked to the Islamic State (IS), an internationalterrorist organisation, police said.

Indonesia National Police spokesman MuhammadIqbal said police have evidence of their planned attacks inseveral banks and state offices in Blitar.

They also planned to attack police stations in the city, he added.

Police also seized weapons, bullets and documents containing jihadtutorial manuals from the five suspects arrested in Blitar.

Another suspect arrested in Karanganyar on June 14 night was closely-related tothe ones arrested in Blitar, the spokesman said, adding that they were activemembers of JAD operating in Blitar and Malang.

The police are investigating the terrorist group’s financial sources.-VNA
