Indonesia appoints head of counter-terrorism agency
Indonesian President Joko Widodo on September 11 officially appointed Police Inspector General Eddy Hartono as the head of the National Counter-Terrorism Agency.

Jakarta (VNA) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo on September 11 officially appointed Police Inspector General Eddy Hartono as the head of the National Counter-Terrorism Agency.
He expressed his hope that Eddy will bring a wealth of his experience to the new role, contributing to ensuring the national security and safety.
Under the leadership of Eddy, the agency will focus on three key aspects of counter-terrorism, namely enhancing national preparedness to respond to and prevent terrorist threats, implementing strategies to counter radical ideologies and prevent the spread of extremism, and concentrating on rehabilitating and reintegrating former extremists to prevent their return to terrorism.
Eddy affirmed that he will continue the work accomplished by the predecessors, adding the agency will play a coordinating role to synergise efforts among ministries and agencies in the fight against terrorism.
