– Indonesia’s PertaminaInternational EP will start drilling 20 oil wells at the Hassi Berkine oilfield, southern Algeria, next May with an estimated output of 30,000 barrelseach day.

The drilling is part of a cooperation programmebetween the Indonesian company and Algeria’s national oil and gas groupSonatrach.

Pertamina currently produces 18,000 barrels ofoil per day from joint operations with Sonatrach at Algeria’s Menzel LejmatNorth, El Merk and Ourhoud fields.

President of Pertamina Marial Mellia said thecompany wants to increase the output as much as possible. The upcominglong-term cooperation projects with Algerian partner allow Pertanmina realise thistarget, she added.

The Indonesian company participated in the thirdscientific fair of the 11th Scientific and Technical Days (JST 11) held bySonatrach in Oran city on April 16-19. 

The event drew 1,500 delegates from 27countries, including Sonatrach’s energy partners from France, Italy, Spain andthe US.-VNA
