Indian Film Festival organised in Son La

The Indian Film Festival not only honours the artistic value of cinema but also contributes to strengthening the friendship and enhancing cultural exchange between the people of Son La in particular and Vietnam in general and India.

Son La (VNA) – Renowned Indian films are on screen in the northern mountainous province of Son La, within the framework of the Indian Film Festival from June 13 to 15.

The festival, jointly held by the provincial People’s Committee and the Indian Embassy in Vietnam, features free screenings of four films: RRR, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (You Only Live Once), English Vinglish, and Dangal. These captivating films, acclaimed by global audiences, portray India's history in the 1920s; depict friendship, journey of self-discovery, self-esteem, the value of living life to the fullest; and address issues of empowerment, breaking stereotypes, social norms, and gender equality.

Each film is subtitled in both Vietnamese and English, representing the unique essence of Indian cinema and appealing to audiences of all ages, promising a rich cinematic experience for viewers in Son La.

Dr. Monica Sharma, Director of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre at the Embassy of India in Vietnam, shared that for centuries, Vietnam and India have maintained deep cultural ties through Buddhism, yoga, cinema, dance, and music. The centre hopes for long-term cooperation with Son La in upcoming events, including bringing local art and music troupes to India.

Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Ngan Hoan stated that the event not only honours the artistic value of cinema but also contributes to strengthening the friendship and enhancing cultural exchange between the people of Son La in particular and Vietnam in general and India.

He expected the event to open the door for future cooperation in cinema 𓆉and tourism, a 𒆙promising direction with long-term benefits./.
