Hung Yen seeks to deepen ties with Japanese localities

Hung Yen (VNA) ⛄– Authorities in northern Hung Yen province expressed a strong desire to expand friendship and investment ties with Japanese localities and businesses during a working session with a visiting delegation from the Japanese Communist Party (JCP) on August 1.

The meeting took place as part of the 11th theoretical exchange between the JCP and the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV). Speaking at the event, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyen Huu Nghia highlighted Japan as one of the province’s most trusted and important partners across spheres.
Hung Yen has maintained twinning relationships and cooperation agreements with Kanagawa prefecture and Nikaho city since 2015, fostering exchanges in infrastructure development, technology, and people-to-people diplomacy. The province has also actively welcomed delegations and facilitated bilateral programmes to boost collaboration. Hung Yen is calling for further Japanese investment in industrial parks and economic zones, aligned with its development master plan through 2050. The province posted 8.11% GDP growth in the first half of 2025, surpassing the national average.
Japan remains Hung Yen’s top investor, with 188 projects worth over 6.16 billion USD. Of these, 165 projects are operational, employing nearly 36,000 workers and contributing over 908 billion USD to the state budget in the first six months of 2025. The Japanese side praised the province’s socioeconomic progress and growing ties with Japan, and expressed hope for deeper cooperation between the two parties and nations./.
