Hun Sen’s Cabinet gets parliamentary approval

The daybefore, Hun Sen was appointed Prime Minister in a royal decree signed bythe Cambodian King after the National Assembly opened the firstsession. In a letter to King Norodom Sihamoni later, Hun Sen expressedhis strong commitment to fulfill his duties as a prime minister, thusserving the interest of his country and citizens.

Also in themorning of September 24, the Cambodian NA re-elected Heng Samrin asPresident of the Cambodian NA in the new tenure. The 79-year-old HengSamrin served as President of the Cambodian NA in the 4 th tenure andwas also Honorary President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP).

Nguon Nhel and Khuon Sodary, NA vice presidents of the 4 th tenure were also reelected to hold their old positions.

PM Hun Sen presented to the parliament the new government’s politicalplatform, which outlines an extensive reform plan to enhance itsmanagement and enforcement capacity.

Later the same day, HunSen and all members in his cabinet are to take the oath of office infront of King Norodom Sihamoni at the Royal Palace.-VNA
