Hue Hospital celebrates 200 successful kidney transplants

The Hue Central Hospital in the central province of Thua Thien Hue held a ceremony on November 17 to mark 200 successful kidney transplant cases conducted by its experts and to honor the voluntary kidney donors.

Hospital Director Bui Duc Phu said the hospital performedthe first kidney transplant in 2001, and the new kidney functioned wellon 100 percent of recipients during the first year, which is a high rateeven compared with international standards.

So far, 14 hospitals in the country have carried out kidney transplants successfully.

The cost of a kidney transplant at a Vietnamese hospital is around150 million VND (7,100 USD) while it could be between 800 million-1billion VND (38,000-47,600 USD) abroad.-VNA

ꦇ Vietnam, France collaborate in vaccine production technology transfer

Under the agreement, VNVC and Sanofi will gradually implement technology transfers to enable domestic production of several key Sanofi vaccines that are widely used in Vietnam. In addition, Sanofi will support VNVC in training human resources and quality management in vaccine research and manufacturing.
