Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) – The I-on Health CupRace was held in Hue City, the capital of the central province of Thua ThienHue on August 25 to kick start the Coupe De Hue cycling tournament, whichattracts over 700 local and foreign riders.

The I-on Health Cup Race includes two events stretchingthe two distances of 25.8 km and 43.7 km, starting from Phu Van Lau Park in HueCity. The tournament, running through August 26, also hosts the 138-km GranFondo Sportive Ride which centres around the historical Citadel.

The tournament is an outdoor sportive activity forcycling and cross-country fans across Vietnam and in foreign countries, saidPhan Tien Dung, Director of the provincial Department of Culture and Sports.The event also promotes cycling in Thua Thien – Hue and serves as anopportunity to introduce to foreign visitors the province’s spectaculardestinations as well as historic and cultural relics, he added.

The Coupe De Hue has becomethe first Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) – registered Gran Fondo Sportiveevent in Vietnam and only one of a limited number in Southeast Asia. It willfeature on the international race calendar of the UCI in 2019.

A series of side events will also take place,including a boat racing competition on Perfume River, Song Huong PaddleFest2018 at Toa Kham Pier, demonstration of Harley Davison motor club along mainstreets in Hue City and Concert Rock at Phu Van Lau Park.–VNA
