Hanoi (VNA)൩ – Htin Kyaw of the National League for Democracy (NLD) was elected as Myanmar’s President during the country’s presidential election on March 15.

The new President is scheduled to take office on April 1. According to the voting result, U Myint Swe, Yangon Region Chief Minister, becomes First Vice President. He was a candidate of the Union Solidarity and Development Party ( USDP ) and nominated by the military. Meanwhile, U Henry Van Htee Yu from NLD and elected by the House of Nationalities (Upper House) was voted as Second Vice President.-VNA
