Hong Kong businesses interested in Phu Quoc Island

Quang briefed the hosts on the outstandingachievements gained by Mekong Delta localities, affirming that theregion holds an extremely important position in Vietnam’s socio-economicdevelopment strategy.

The Mekong Delta regionneeds foreign investments to develop agriculture in order to promote itsadvantage as Vietnam’s largest rice granary, he stated.

The Vietnamese official mentioned the master plan to build Phu QuocIsland in Kien Giang province into a special economic zone. This drewthe attention of many Hong Kong businesses.

President of the General Chamber of Commerce, Jonathan Choi, andbusiness representatives questioned Quang about investment in Phu Quoc,declaring that this could be a very good opportunity for Hong Kongcompanies.

Quang thanked them for their interestand introduced them to Vietnam’s preferential policies for investors inthe Mekong Delta region and Phu Quoc; particularly those related toentry procedures and corporate income tax.-VNA
