Theisland, located in the Gulf of Thailand, is among seven cheaper options thatare on par, beauty-wise, with the renowned Indian Ocean island nation ofMaldives listed by the newspaper. Toreach Hon Xuong, a part of Phu Quoc district, visitors need to stay on thelargest island in the area, Phu Quoc, and take a boat to the pristine island. The EveningStandard describes Hon Xuong Island as a remote place withscenic beaches and unspoiled surrounding forests. Thepaper also calls it the most “Instagrammable” of other islands in the area. Theother places listed by the paper are: Roatán Island (Honduras), Cayo Largo delSur (Cuba), Hyams Beach (Australia), Vanuatu, Koh Lipe (Thailand) and MabulIsland (Malaysia). PhuQuoc district, consisting of 22 islands and islets, is now a well knowndestination in Vietnam. Its largest and most famous island, Phu Quoc, was listedas one of the top 50 beaches in the world by US News in 2018. The 12th culture, sport and tourism festival of the Khmer ethnic people in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang is taking place in Go Quao township, Go Quao district from November 21 to 23, attracting thousands of visitors.
The southern province of Kien Giang estimates it will have welcomed 7.6 million tourist arrivals, including 580,000 foreigners, by the end of this year, up 25.5 percent and 57 percent against last year, respectively.
