Hollywood studio to remake Vietnamese action comedy
The US’s Universal Pictures has announced it will craft a new version of Vietnamese action comedy Saigon Bodyguards starring American actor Chris Pratt and Chinese actor Wu Jing.

Hanoi (VNA) – The US’s Universal Pictures has announced it will craft a new version ofVietnamese action comedy Saigon Bodyguards starring American actor Chris Pratt andChinese actor Wu Jing.
The remakepresents a reunion for Chris Pratt and directors Joe and Anthony Russo whopreviously worked together in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers:Endgame. Pratt appeared in both movies as Star-Lord.
Alex Gregory andPeter Huyck, who worked on the US’s hit comedy “What Men Want” and HBO series “Veep”, are writing the script.
Universal’sExecutive Vice President of Production Matt Reilly brought in the project andwill oversee on behalf of the studio.
The original 2016film centred on two professional bodyguards going on a rescue mission to save arich corporate heir who gets kidnapped right under their noses. It was directedby Japanese director Ken Ochiai from a screenplay by Michael Thai. It wasproduced by Rhombus Media and TNA Entertainment and presented by CJEntertainment.
The Vietnamesefilm was the fourth highest-grossing in 2016 and has been released in nearly 20countries, including the US, the Republic of Korea, Japan and New Zealand./.
A new documentary film on tuong or hat boi (classical theatre) produced by Vietnam Television will be released in Hanoi, Can Tho and HCM City this month as part of the station’s efforts to introduce Vietnamese culture and theatre to audiences.
The European Film Festival 2020 will take place in Vietnam from November 20 to December 3 to showcase Europe’s rich cinema heritage, diverse culture and contemporary creativity.
