Da Nang (VNA) – The central city of Da Nangon June 30 announced the appointment of the first Vice Chairman of the People’sCommittee of its Hoang Sa island district.
Le Phu Nguyen, Deputy Director of the municipalDepartment of Home Affairs and Office Chief of Hoang Sa district’s People’sCommittee, will serve as Vice Chairman of the district People’s Committee forthe 2021-2026 tenure.
Meanwhile, Vo Ngoc Dong, Director of the Departmentof Home Affairs and Chairman of Hoang Sa district’s People’s Committee in the2016-2021 tenure, was re-appointed as the district’s Chairman for the 2021-2026tenure.
Also at the ceremony, the municipal People’sCommittee announced decisions on the appointment of six Chairpersons and 13Vice Chairpersons of the People’s Committees of Hai Chau, Thanh Khe, LienChieu, Son Tra, Ngu Hanh Son and Cam Le districts.
The officials will face heavy duties when taking upthe leadership of the districts as Da Nang has begun to pilot the urbanadministration model, said Nguyen Van Quang, Secretary of the municipal PartyCommittee.
He urged the officials to make every effort to helpDa Nang recover and develop amidst the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, sayingit is a must to renew mindset and management methods, while ensuring theobservance of the centralised democracy principle in the Party.
Quang also asked the newly-appointed local leadersto soon issue working mechanisms, along with other typical mechanisms andpolicies to serve the city’s development./.
The East Sea plays a vital role in Vietnam’s defence, security, and economy. The Vietnamese Party and State have issued important policies on East Sea issues, to protect the country’s independence, sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, maintain a peaceful environment, and ensure security, social order, and safety for national construction and defence.
Vietnam demands that China respect Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang said at the Foreign Ministry’s regular press conference on December 3.
The Vietnamese people have left their footprints on the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) islands since ancient times. Historical evidence proves the country’s sovereignty over the two archipelagos, especially through ancient bibliographies.
The East Sea is a semi-closed expanse of water abutting seven countries - Vietnam, China, the Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, and Singapore. It is not only crucial for their development but also a strategic link in several international maritime routes. The sea holds several strategic benefits that are eyed by global powers.
Stronger efforts and determination are required to achieve and surpass the set targets, especially in the eradication of makeshift and dilapidated houses nationwide, the acceleration of public investment disbursement, and the implementation of nationally important transport projects, PM Pham Minh Chinh noted.
The trip will be made at the invitations of Chinese Premier Li Qiang and WEF President and CEO Børge Brende, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
