Hoa Hao followers celebrate 98th birthday of the sect’s founder
The 98th birth anniversary of Hoa Hao Buddhism founder, Prophet Huynh Phu So, was celebrated in the southern province of An Giang, on January 11 (the 25th day of the 11th lunar month).

An Giang (VNA) – The 98th birth anniversary of Hoa HaoBuddhism founder, Prophet Huynh Phu So, was celebrated at An Hoa temple, Phu Mytown, Phu Tan district, the southern province of An Giang, on January 11 (the25th day of the 11th lunar month).
Theevent was attended by Head of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs VuChien Thang, representatives from the Ministry of Public Security, MilitaryZone 9 High Command and An Giang authorities, along with over 20,000 Hoa HaoBuddhism followers inside and outside the province.
TruongHoang Trong, Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front – An Giang chapter,said that since it was recognised by the State, Hoa Hao Buddhism has upheld thepatriotic tradition and promoted national unity.
In2017, Hoa Hao Buddhism followers donated about 372 billion VND (16.3 millionUSD) to charity activities, contributing to the success in fulfillingsocio-economic development tasks and building new-style rural areas.
ProphetHuynh Phu So was born on January 15, 1920 in Hoa Hao village, Chau Doc province(now An Giang province).
Hoa Hao Buddhism now has 391 executive committees in 17 cities and provincesand over 2 million followers nationwide, mostly in An Giang.-VNA
The 97th birth anniversary of the founder of Hoa Hao Buddhism, Prophet Huynh Phu So, took place at An Hoa temple in Phu my township, Phu Tan district, the southern province of An Giang on December 23.
The Central Executive Committee of the Hoa Hao Buddhist Sangha marked the 78th founding anniversary of the Buddhist branch with a grand ceremony at An Hoa Pagoda in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang on June 12.
