Ho Chi Minh City, Japan boost economic ties

HCM City (VNA) – Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh CityPeople’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong has expressed his wish that the JapaneseBusiness Association in HCM City (JBAH) would further uphold its role inconnecting the municipal authorities with Japanese investors.

During a reception in the city on May 14 for new JBAH  President Okada Hideyuki, Phong said HCMCity’s leaders always appreciate feedback from domestic and foreign enterprises,including Japanese firms operating in the city, in order to improve thebusiness environment.

He asked Hideyuki to comprehensively identify difficultiesregarding taxation and social insurance faced by Japanese firms operating inthe city so that relevant authorities can discuss them in the upcominground-table conference.

Phong hoped that JBAH would introduce prestigious investorsto the city in fields of its interest such as manufacturing and processing, aswell as that Japan and Ho Chi Minh City will actively partner in economy, trade,and investment, including building more impressive works in the city.

Hideyuki, for his part, said JBAH now has 1,025 membercompanies. He lauded the city’s efforts to hold the annual round-tableconference to listen to Japanese firms’ feedback to improve the local businessclimate.

He affirmed that the Japanese enterprises operating in thecity are ready to partner with the municipal authorities in the efforts, addingthat JBAH’s leaders want to establish more business liaison boards to improvethe efficiency of bilateral economic, trade, and investment ties.–VNA
