High waves damage sea embankments in central province
Coastal embankments in Phan Rang-Thap Cham city in the south central province of Ninh Thuan have been damaged by high waves caused by the northeast monsoon, threatening the lives and property of more than 300 households with 1,400 people along the dyke.

According to the Irrigation Sub-department underthe provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the high waveshave caused landslides and subsidence in many sections of the 2,123 metre-longdyke in Dong Hai ward over the last few days.
High capacity vehicles also contributed to therecent degradation of the dyke, residents in Dong Hai ward said.
Many damaged sections of the dyke have not beenrepaired due to lack of funds.
According to the People’s Committee of Dong Haiward, the locality installed warning signs at landslide points as a temporarysolution.
By the end of last year, many sections of thedyke were seriously damaged by typhoon Tembin.-VNA
