HCM City (VNA) – The southern economichub of Ho Chi Minh City is improving its business environment to create thebest conditions for foreign enterprises, including those from Singapore, tomake productive investments.
Chairman of the municipal People’s CommitteeNguyen Thanh Phong made the remark at a meeting with Singapore’s Prime MinisterLee Hsien Loong, who is in an official visit to Vietnam, in HCM City on March21.
He said HCM City has pioneered in promotingcooperation with Singapore and hoped the country – as the biggest investor inthe city - will carry out a major investment project to symbolize their soundcooperative ties.
The official suggested Singapore step up cooperationand investment in clean food industrial parks, provide technological support forplanning management and metro line development.
The southern metropolis wants to receive moreassistance from Singapore in improving human resources quality and learnt fromits experience in urban management and development, and smart city building, headded.
He also reiterated Vietnam’s consistent policyof tightening the friendship with Singapore on the bilateral and multilateral basisfor the sake of the two peoples as well as for peace, stability, cooperationand development in the region and around the world.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said therelations between Vietnam and Singapore have been increasingly reinforced anddeveloped over the past time, illustrated by the strong growth of the21-year-old Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP).
The presence of over 900 projects invested bySingaporean firms is a vivid demonstration of the country’s interest in HCMCity, he said, adding that Singapore hopes to conduct more cooperationactivities with the city, including the exchange of officials and experiencesharing in metropolis management, building and development.
During his stay in HCM City, the PM is scheduledto meet with the Singaporean business community and attend a ceremony to launcha business centre of Mapletree – a leading Singaporean investor in HCM City.The PM and his spouse are also scheduled to tour several historical relicsites.-VNA
