HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City welcomes foreigninvestors, including those from Austria, to engage in major developmentprojects, a municipal official has said.
At a reception for Mariana Kühnel, Deputy Secretary General of theAustrian Federal Economic Chamber, on November 22, Vice Chairman of themunicipal People’s Committee Tran Vinh Tuyen highlighted the strongdevelopments of Vietnam-Austria economic ties.
Currently, Austria ranks 30thamong 106 countries and territories investing in HCM City, he said, adding thatthe investment value, however, has yet to match the strength and potential ofboth sides.
The official urged theAustrian chamber to cooperate and share its experience with HCM City intechnological solutions, the improvement of living standards of people,high-tech medicine, flood control and water supply.
He spoke highly of Austria’sprojects providing medical equipment and technologies for Cho Ray Hospital.

The city will alsofacilitate the survey and design of a cable car project by Austrian enterprises,he said, adding that the city hopes to step up tourism cooperation with Austriato utilise great potential of both sides in this regard.
For her part, Kühnel saidher visit is expected to contribute to promoting investment and tradecollaboration between businesses of Austria and HCM City.
Austrian firms areinterested in and want to join hands with the Vietnamese southern metropolis insmart city building, environmental protection and urban infrastructureconstruction, she said.
The guest lauded HCM City’sfriendly business environment and expressed her hope for enhanced delegationexchanges between the two sides.
She described the opening ofthe Austria’s trade office last May in HCM City as one of the favourableconditions for enterprises of both sides to step up their partnerships,especially in water supply, waste water treatment, firefighting and urbantransport./.
