HCM City (VNA) – An international friendship symbol of Ho Chi Minh City was unveiled at Bach Dang Wharf Park on September 24, considered a demonstration of the friendship and cooperation between the southern hub of Vietnam and localities around the world.
The event, held as part of the second Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Dialogue, draw the attendance of Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Phan Van Mai, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang and leaders of nearly 40 foreign localities having cooperative ties and friendship with HCM City.
In his speech, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Vo Van Hoan said the international friendship symbol is an artwork that vividly demonstrates the long-term friendship, solidarity, and cooperation between HCM City and 58 localities worldwide. It conveys a message that the city always welcomes international friends, stays open, and aspires to stretch its reach to the world to jointly build a future of peace and prosperity.
The work features a Mobius strip which symbolises the infinity and endless development. Using the 3D mapping technology and a water curtain, it is not only an illustration of connectivity but also a means to show images about culture and arts to introduce the city’s beauty and hospitality to international friends. Its base is inscribed with the names of the localities that have set up friendship and cooperative relations with HCM City, according to the official.
On this occasion, he thanked international delegates for consistently supporting and helping develop close partnerships with HCM City, adding that the presence of the foreign representatives at the event clearly evidenced the friendship and mutual trust with HCM City, a solid stepping stone for jointly achieving successes in the future./.
