HCM City treasures relations with China’s Guangxi province: city leader

HCM City (VNA) 💜– Ho Chi Minh City attaches importance to maintaining and developing relations with ministries, agencies, and localities of China, including Guangxi province, Secretary of municipal Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen said on August 27.
At a reception for Liu Ning, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, who is on a visit to HCM City, Nen said the city stands ready to thoroughly grasp and realise the agreements and common perceptions of the high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and countries, contributing to the stable, healthy and sustainable development of the Vietnam - China relationship and bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries.
HCM City is willing to discuss with Guangxi on trade, investment and tourism cooperative programmes and projects as well as people-to-people exchange, he said, adding the Chinese province holds many memories of President Ho Chi Minh in his revolutionary path, therefore, the initiative to build a tour "Following Uncle Ho's footsteps" proposed by Guangxi leaders needs to be accelerated along with other tourism promotion activities between the two localities, offering opportunities for people of Vietnam and China in general, the people of HCM City and Guangxi province in particular to exchange friendship, strengthen solidarity and cooperate for mutual development.
For his part, Secretary Liu expressed his impression of HCM City’s strong and dynamic development as well as its role as the leading economic locomotive of Vietnam.
The working visit to the southern metropolis is a practical activity of Guangxi to realise the important common perception of the leaders of the Party and State of China and Vietnam on enhancing the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries, building a community of shared future in an intensive and practical manner, he said.
Briefing the host on the potential and strengths of Guangxi in developing cooperative relations with localities of Vietnam, Liu affirmed that the Chinese province is ready to work with HCM City to focus on implementing cooperative activities, deepening the relationship between the two countries, and contributing to building a community of shared future between China and Vietnam.
He said that Guang xi wishes to strengthen collaboration with HCM City in areas where the two sides have potential for cooperation such as seaport development, trade, cultural and tourism cooperation, elaborating that it is ready to work with the southern metropolis to build a tour "Following Uncle Ho's footsteps" to connect historical sites associated with President Ho Chi Minh in the two localities./.
A trade and investment promotion conference between Ho Chi Minh City and China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region was held in Vietnam’s southern largest economic hub on August 27.
Vietnam has been the largest trading partner of China’s Guangxi province for the past 25 years, and the building of a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance between the two countries has given Guangxi an important mission and brought about new historical opportunities for its development.
Ho Chi Minh City will accelerate public spending, stimulate consumption, and expand export markets to achieve a growth rate of 7.5% this year, its leader has said.
The trip will be made at the invitations of Chinese Premier Li Qiang and WEF President and CEO Børge Brende, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
