HCM City to tighten surveillance on discharge of wastewater
The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has instructed the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to use technology to monitor enterprises and residential areas to ensure they do not pollute the environment with wastewater.

HCMCity (VNA) – The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee hasinstructed the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to usetechnology to monitor enterprises and residential areas to ensure they do notpollute the environment with wastewater.
ViceChairman of the municipal People’s Committee Vo Van Hoan said as many localbusinesses have discharged wastewater directly into the environment without anytreatment, the city in unable to resolve the pollution problem.
Thecity has carried out environmental surveillance at only industrial parks,hospitals and residential areas, which is not sufficient, he said.
Hoantold a meeting held to review the city’s socio-economic performance in the firsteight months that the Department of Natural Resources and Environment mustcarry out surveillance at each enterprise. A smart system is needed to find outwhich business is discharging untreated wastewater into the environment.
