An international seminar on e-commerce took place in Ho Chi Minh Cityon Dec. 16, attracting the participation of businesses, executives andlecturers both at home and abroad.
At the seminar,the first of its kind in Vietnam jointly held by Viet Trung HoaInvestment and Development Joint Stock Company and VietnamE-commerce Development Centre, participants discussed how to promotemade-in-Vietnam products on international markets through e-commerce,while working on business strategies in line with global developmenttrends.
The participants engaged in an exchange withVietnamese businesses who are pioneers in applying e-commerce tobusiness and with foreign experts to update information about e-commerceacross the world.
The seminar also included directtalks with disabled people who have actively contributed to thedevelopment of society in general and to Vietnam ’s informationtechnology in particular – such as Le Dan Bach Viet MA, a blind teacherfrom Nguyen Dinh Chieu school for visually-impaired children, and HuynhThi Kim Cuc, an IT expert.
Tran Vinh Nhung, DeputyDirector of HCM City Department of Industry and Trade, said businessesin HCM City were taking the lead in applying e-commerce, engagingin e-commerce trading floors and offering a wide range of onlineservices.
However, Nhung said, the businesses werefacing numerous obstacles while using e-commerce, particularly regardingsecurity and electronic payment systems.
Theseminar provided an opportunity for businesses to raise suggestions toHCM City People’s Committee on a plan to develop e-commerce in the2011-2015 period, contributing to effectively implementing andfulfilling targets of the master plan on e-commerce development in the2011-2015 period that was adopted under the Prime Minister’s DecisionNo. 1073/QD-TTg on July 12, 2010, Nhung said./.
