HCM City strengthens relations with Japan’s Osaka prefecture

HCM City (VNA) – Vice Chairman of the People’s Council of Ho ChiMinh City Nguyen Van Dung on November 6 received a delegation of the FriendshipParliamentarians’ Association of Japan’s Osaka prefecture led by its Chairman WadaKenji.
Speaking at the meeting, Dung said thatbased on the fine Vietnam-Japan relations, the city has conductedeffective cooperation activities with Japanese localities.
Collaboration between the metropolis and Osaka prefectureis one of the most vibrant and effective cooperative relationships in the city'slocal-level international cooperation.
He proposed the association intensify itscollaboration with Ho Chi Minh City in the fields of infrastructure,innovation, green economy, green energy, and biotechnology.
Dung also showed his hope that Japaneseparliamentarians will continue to encourage Japanese businesses to come to his cityto seek cooperation opportunities and promote cultural exchange activities, andproposed the Japanese government choose the city as a venue for cultural andpeople-to-people exchange programmes.
Wada Kenji said that his working visit toVietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City, on the occasion of the two countries celebratingthe 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations aims to seek and promotecooperation opportunities between Osaka and Vietnam, especially in tourism, andshare information about the World Expo 2025 Osaka with authorities and the businesscommunity of Ho Chi Minh City.
He committed to providing information aboutthe Vietnamese city’s potential, strengths and development orientation to theJapanese Government and business community, and affirmed the desire tostrengthen cooperation with the Vietnamese largest economic hub in areas ofmutual interest such as tourism and education to contribute to consolidatingthe developing Japan-Vietnam relations./.
Ho Chi Minh City has attached great importance to and highly evaluated the good relationship between Vietnam and Japan and always defined its important role in enhancing the two countries’ bilateral ties, a municipal official has said.
