HCM City (VNA) – ꧃The Vietnam Fatherland FrontCommittee of Ho Chi Minh City on December 20 received nearly 56 billion VND (2.44million USD) presented to the city’s ‘For the Poor’ fund.

The fund aims to ease difficulties facing the disadvantagedin the city ahead of the 2022 Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday. To Thi Bich Chau, Chairwoman of the committee, affirmed thatthe Party and State always consider poverty reduction as a major, important,and consistent task during the national construction and development. Donations to the fund reflect national solidarity and jointefforts in improving local people’s lives amid the complexities brought byCOVID-19, thereby contributing to the national target programme on sustainable povertyreduction, she added. This year, the fund has raised more than 156 billionVND. Local authorities have built and repaired houses for the beneficiaries, presentedgift packages to 156 Heroic Mothers, wounded soldiers and the poor./.
