HCM City: Over 1 million students enter new school year

More than 1 million students from primary to high schools in Ho Chi Minh City officially entered the new school year on August 20.

HCM City (VNA) –More than 1 million students from primary to high schools in Ho Chi Minh Cityofficially entered the new school year on August 20.

Meanwhile, local kindergartens will join schoolsnationwide on the official opening day of the new school year – September 5.

The southern city has more than 1.67 millionstudents in the 2018 – 2019 academic year, rising about 67,200 from last year.

Primary-level school enrollments record thebiggest increase of over 26,800 while pre-school education has some 20,200 newchildren.

The municipal Department of Education andTraining said this year, HCM City aims to continue upgrading local schools’infrastructure and technological equipment so as to improve teaching andlearning quality.

The 2018 – 2019 school year is scheduled to lastthrough May 2019.-VNA
