HCM City leaders pay tribute to war martyrs

HCMCity (VNA) - Adelegation of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, People’s Council, People’sCommittee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and armed forces on April 29 laidwreaths at the city’s martyrs cemetery on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the Liberation of South Vietnam and National Reunification Day(April 30) and the 134th May Day.

The delegation, led by Nguyen Thien Nhan,Secretary of the municipal Party Committee, paid homage to Heroic VietnameseMothers and fallen soldiers for their sacrifice to national independence andfreedom.

They also paid a floral tribute to lateleaders and revolutionary veterans who made great contributions to nationalconstruction and defence at another cemetery in the city.

Another delegation of representatives fromdepartments, agencies and districts in HCM City led by Tran Luu Quang, DeputySecretary of the Party Committee, offered incense and flowers to HeroicVietnamese Mothers and war martyrs at the Ben Duoc temple and a cemetery in CuChi district.

The same day, local officials and residentspaid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh and President Ton Duc Thang at themuseums dedicated to the two late leaders.  

On this occasion, Nhan and other city leadersvisited the High Command of Military Zone 7 and people who made outstanding contributionsduring the historic Ho Chi Minh campaign.

Nhan said HCM City’s Party organisation,authorities and residents always remembered the great contributions of the armedforces, including those at Military Zone 7, during the struggle for nationalindependence and reunification.

He also lauded the military zone’s role inthe fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the city’s construction anddevelopment.

The official expressed his hope that the HighCommand and armed forces of Military Zone 7 will make greater efforts tofulfill tasks assigned by the Party and the army, and successfully organiseall-level Party congresses towards the 13th National Party Congress.

Later the same day, Nhan visited the familyof late Sen. Lieut. Gen. Tran Van Tra, former Deputy Minister of NationalDefence, and a number of heroes of the People’s Armed Forces in the city./.
