HCM City (VNA) – Secretary of the HCM CityParty Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan received Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi inHo Chi Minh City on September 15.

The Chinese official is in Vietnam to take part in the 11thmeeting of the Steering Committee for Vietnam – China Bilateral Cooperation.

On behalf of the local authorities, Nhan lauded outcomes of sessionsheld by the committee in boosting friendship for mutual benefits, stating thatHCM City spares no effort to make contribution to comprehensive strategiccooperative ties between Vietnam and China.

Briefing the guest on the city’s recent socio-economic andcultural development, Nhan said the relationship between HCM City and China isgrowing, particularly in economy and trade.

According to the city official, HCM City has to dateestablished cooperative and friendly ties with eight Chinese localities,including Shanghai, Shenyang, Guangzhou, and most recently Chongqing.

For his part, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi pledged tomake efforts in enhancing his country’s relationship with Vietnam and with HoChi Minh City in particular.

China stands ready to share experience in socio-economicdevelopment with Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City, he added.

Congratulating the city on its recent growth, Wanghighlighted cooperation between Vietnamese and Chinese localities needs to beexpanded in all spheres.

He showed his confidence that under the municipal PartyCommittee’ leadership, HCM City will continue playing an important role in Vietnam’sdevelopment.
