As Vietnam’s major economic hub, Ho Chi Minh City has treasured and made all-out efforts to promote cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia, including relations between the city and Cambodian localities, a municipal official said.

HCMCity (VNA) – As Vietnam’s major economic hub, Ho Chi Minh City hastreasured and made all-out efforts to promote cooperation between Vietnam andCambodia, including relations between the city and Cambodian localities, amunicipal official said.
At a reception for visiting Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sar Kheng onJanuary 9, Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong saidover the past time, partnerships between the city and Cambodian localities,including Phnom Penh capital city, have been tightened through delegationexchanges.
HCM City wishes to maintain delegation exchanges between agencies andorganisations of the two countries, and increase cooperation projects inagriculture, transportation and waste treatment, he said
Phong stressed that HCM City is willing to share its experience with Cambodianlocalities in sustainable urban building, management and development, and climate change response,contributing to the “fine neighbourliness, traditional friendship andcomprehensive, sustainable and long-term cooperation” between the twocountries.
The official used the occasion to congratulate Cambodia on achievement thecountry has recorded over the past time, and the Cambodian People’s Party onits victory in the sixth general election last July.
For his part, Sar Kheng spoke highly of HCM City’s hosting the tenth meeting oncooperation and development between border provinces of Vietnam and Cambodia.
He thanked Vietnam for its wholehearted and effective support to Cambodia overthe past 40 years, saying Cambodia wishes to build long-term and effectivecooperation with Vietnam, including HCM City, thus bringing pragmatic intereststo people of both sides.
The Deputy PM also highlighted HCM City’s cooperation and support to Cambodianlocalities, especially Phnom Penh, and expressed his hope for more assistancefrom the Vietnamese city across fields.-VNA
Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Le Thanh Hai and President of the Cambodian Senate Say Chhum have agreed to continue promoting cooperation in all fields between Vietnam and Cambodia as well as between Ho Chi Minh City and Phnom Penh.

In particular, in April 2023, the two sides successfully carried out a joint operation that dismantled a major organised, transnational drug trafficking ring involving both Vietnamese and Cambodian suspects.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Israel is closely coordinating with relevant local agencies to stay informed and provide the utmost support possible for Vietnamese nationals.
