HCM City (VNA) – A memorandum of understanding (MoU)on cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and the Lao province of Champasakfor 2022-2025 was signed on December 3 as part of the former’s first friendshipdialogue.
Under the document, the sides will step up exchanges of local-leveldelegations and promote cooperation and experience sharing between theirdepartments, sectors, and businesses. They will increase their meetings andexchanges with a focus on the works of Party building, State management, youthcooperation, cultural conservation, and sports, thus bettering the mutualunderstanding and solidarity.
The MoU also covers bilateral collaboration to beef uptrade-investment and business connectivity toward the opening of a Champasak-HCMCity shopping centre in the Lao locality. The southern Vietnamese economic hub,meanwhile, will further support its Lao partner’s human resources training,particularly via their coordination of a programme that send students fromChampasak to live with Vietnamese families during their study in the city.
Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Phan Van Mai and Governor ofChampasak Vilayvong Boutdakham highlighted the importance of the deal for bothlocalities and for deepening the nations’ traditional relations, special solidarityand comprehensive cooperation.
They said they are determined to effectively turn the contentsdiscussed into specific projects, bringing practical benefits to their localities./.
