HCM City installs more cameras to fight street thieves

Police in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 12 on May 5 inaugurated a centre to monitor more than 500 public security cameras as an effort to prevent street crimes.

HCM City (VNA) – Police in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 12 on May 5 inaugurated acentre to monitor more than 500 public security cameras as an effort to preventstreet crimes.

This is thesecond district-level centre put into operation after the one in District 5.

Colonel DoanVan Phuc, head of the District 12 Police Office, said the monitoring centrewill contribute to crime prevention and support criminal investigations.

The PoliceOffice will intensify the training to maximise the efficiency of the system.

In December2016, a similar centre was put into use in District 5, contributing importantlyto tackling crimes in the district in particular and the city in general.-VNA
