Ho Chi MinhCity (VNA) – Secretary of the HoChi Minh City Party Committee Dinh La Thang met and discussed cooperation withvisiting Mayor Burkhard Jung of Germany’s Leipzig city on November 29.
Thang said Ho Chi MinhCity lays stress on joint projects with Leipzig in health, environment andeducation.
He added that the southernhub welcomes long-term operation of German investors, particularly in thesectors of wastewater treatment, water resources management and infrastructuredevelopment.
Hailing Leipzig’s collaborativeideas in mounting orthopedics exhibitions in Ho Chi Minh City and building wildlifeanimal conservation areas, Thang said both sides need further discussion toselect and implement feasible joint projects.
For his part, BurkhardJung said Leipzig businesses is willing to share experiences and transfertechnologies to help Ho Chi Minh City improve its workforce as well as managewater resources and environment issues.
The mayor noted his citywants to implement a number of joint projects as soon as possible.
These projects include theconstruction of an orthopedics centre inside Military Hospital 175 in HCM Cityand others on medical training and environmental protection.
He said health, tourismand student exchanges will continue to be spearheaded sectors of bilateralcooperation in the coming time.-VNA
The Vietnamese People Association in Leipzig city, the German state of Sachsen, held a multicultural festival of Vietnamese ethnic groups on February 23.
The programmes have brought about positive changes to rural infrastructure, comprehensively improved the material and spiritual lives of farmers, and contributed to Vietnam's economic restructuring, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.
