HCM City expo seeks foreign trade partners

Over 400 foreign and domestic businesses attended the third Trade and Investment Promotion Conference and Exhibition in Ho Chi Minh City on Oct. 21.
Over 400 foreign and domestic businesses attended the third Trade andInvestment Promotion Conference and Exhibition in Ho Chi Minh City onOct. 21.
Jointly organised by the HCM City Union of Business Associations(HUBA) and the HCM City chapter of the Vietnam Union of FriendshipOrganisations, the event aimed to introduce Vietnamese products tointernational markets, facilitate the operations of foreign businessassociations and help domestic enterprises seek trade opportunities. A representative of the Canadian Business Association said Vietnam isone of Canada’s strategically important trade and investment partners,and with two-way trade reaching nearly 1.4 billion USD last year, thetwo countries are promoting cooperation in the fields of agriculture,education, information technology and the manufacture of woodenproducts. Pham Ngoc Hung, HUBA Vice Chairman saidthat cooperation between foreign and domestic businesses contributes todeveloping the city’s trade and investment. At theevent, representatives of HUBA will sign cooperative agreements withbusiness associations from the US, Europe and Australia. A music galawill also be organised to ensure friendship among countries. According to Ho Chi Minh City Department of Planning and Investments,as many as 293 projects capitalised at almost 2 billion USD were grantedinvestment licences by October this year. Among the countries andterritories investing, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and the Republicof Korea have posted the highest investment capital./.
