HCM City association celebrates Japanese Emperor’s birthday

Japan’s ConsulGeneral in Ho Chi Minh City Nakajima said the relations between Ho Chi MinhCity and Japan have been strengthened in a practical manner through visits bylocal officials and people-to-people exchange activities.
Nakajima noted that the first visit to Vietnam by the Emperor and the Empressin the coming time will create a great driving force to intensify the twocountries’ strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia. Nguyen Cong Tanh, President of the municipal Vietnam-Japan FriendshipAssociation, said exchange activities held between students and people of HoChi Minh City and Japanese localities have promoted mutual understanding,solidarity, friendship and cooperation.
Japan is currentlyan important partner of Ho Chi Minh City in economy, trade, investment,culture, and education.
It has provided a significant source of ODA for the City’s urban transport andwater environment sanitation.
Japan ranked sixth among countries and territories investing in Ho Chi MinhCity, with a total investment of over 3 billion USD.-VNA

Vietnam will cooperate with Japan to make careful preparation for a successful visit of the Japanese Emperor and Empress to Vietnam, contributing to bilateral ties, peace, cooperation and development
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has suggested the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam work closely with relevant Vietnamese agencies to prepare for the upcoming visit by Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko.
The programmes have brought about positive changes to rural infrastructure, comprehensively improved the material and spiritual lives of farmers, and contributed to Vietnam's economic restructuring, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.
The festival highlighted the contributions and robust development of Vietnam's revolutionary press over the past century while promoting press products and showcasing the creativity of Vietnamese journalists.
The programme on sustainable poverty reduction has achieved its annual targets for reducing the poverty rate as assigned by the National Assembly and the Government. It has fulfilled five specific objectives and five five-year goals, and met nine out of 12 indicators related to addressing basic social service shortages.

At a review conference held on June 21, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh praised the province’s scientific, coordinated, and flexible approach.
