HCM City, Argentinian provinces boast much potential for stronger ties: official

HCM City (VNA) – Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh CityPeople’s Committee Phan Van Mai received visiting officials from three centralprovinces of Argentina on November 16, saying that the two sides hold muchpotential for enhancing cooperation.
The host noted one task of his city is to serve as the focallocality in promoting Vietnam’s relations with Argentina, especially in tradeand investment.
Highlighting many similarities between HCM City and the centralArgentinian provinces of Cordoba, Santa Fe and Entre Rios, he said the citywishes to work with the Argentinian side to set up a working group for buildingdetailed cooperation programmes in the fields matching their attention andstrength, including promoting partnerships between enterprises of HCM City andthe Argentinian provinces.
Heurged the two sides to consider and sign a cooperation agreement to effectivelystep up ties in trade, investment, technology, and tourism.
Asan economic and trading hub of Vietnam and the region, HCM City is keen oncooperating with Argentinian localities to develop seaports and open direct airroutes, thus helping facilitate bilateral business and trading activities, Maiadded.

Forhis part, Governor of Entre Rios province Gustavo Eduardo Bordet said the Argentiniandelegation comes to HCM City to boost cooperation between the two sides, whichwas established in 2018 but suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Enterprises fromthe three provinces are attending the Vietnam FoodExpo2022, which is taking place in HCM City, to seek opportunities for partneringVietnamese firms in export and import – a strength of the Argentinianlocalities, he went on.
The official affirmed the viewpoint of considering HCM City asimportant to reinforcing the two countries’ comprehensive partnership.
He recommended the city and the three Argentinian provincesset up friendship and cooperative ties in trade, culture, and tourism, callingon them to finalise preparations so that the agreement can be signed in 2023 when Argentina and Vietnam will mark the 50th anniversary of their diplomaticrelations.
Apart from seaport development, Bordet suggested partnershipsin farm produce and farming machinery production which the centralArgentinian provinces are also strong at./.
A high-ranking delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) led by Politburo member and Chairman of the CPV Cental Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs Phan Dinh Trac paid a working visit to Argentina from October 22 to 26 as part of their tour of Latin America.
The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) on November 11 bestowed a certificate of merit on Chairwoman of the Argentina-Vietnam Culture Institute (ICAV) Poldi Sosa Schmidt, who has spent over five decades on conducting friendship activities with Vietnam.

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
