Hanoi’s export turnover, tourists sharply rise

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s capitalcity of Hanoi is estimated to post an increase of 7.37 percent in grossregional domestic products in the first half of 2017 and earn 5.8 billion USDfrom exports, up 12.1 percent against last year.

The information was heard at a meeting of themunicipal Party Committee’s executive board on June 11, reviewing the city’seconomic-social development in the first six months of the year and its tasksin the remaining months. 

In the reviewed time, Hanoi expects to welcome11.85 million visitor arrivals, up 8 percent, and contribute to the statebudget an amount of 102.5 trillion VND (4.5 billion USD), representing a yearlyincrease of 18 percent. 

The city is also estimated to record a surge of74.6 percent to reach 190.9 trillion VND (about 8.4 billion USD) in theregistered capital from the non-state sector. It witnessed the establishment of13,355 new enterprises (up 16 percent) with total registered capital of 101.5trillion VND (4.47 billion USD), up 2 percent year-on-year. 

In the rest months of the year, Hanoi willcontinue boosting administrative reforms, improving the investment environmentand taking measures to remove obstacles for businesses, especially capital andmarket. 

In addition, the city will strengthen urbanmanagement, particularly for pavement encroachment and construction, whileensuring social security and order, said Secretary of the Hanoi Party CommitteeHoang Trung Hai. -VNA
