Hanoi voters and residents have proposed the National Assembly and the Government to continue drastic actions against the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Chairwoman of the Hanoi Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Lan Huong.

– Hanoi voters and residents haveproposed the National Assembly and the Government to continue drastic actionsagainst the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Chairwoman of the Hanoi FatherlandFront Committee Nguyen Lan Huong.

Huong was reporting at a meeting between the delegationof Hanoi’s NA deputies and agencies ahead of the 10th session of the14th legislature on October 19.

The voters also called for more mechanisms andpolicies to help people, businesses and labourers overcome difficulties causedby the pandemic, restore and boost socio-economic development, and stabilise their lives.

Violations in the purchase of medical supplies inservice of the combat should be strictly handled, they said, proposingintensifying inspections over loss-making projects and areas that would seecorruption.

The voters also expressed their concern over suchissues as urban railway projects, component projects of the North-SouthExpressway and the North-South Express Railway project, along with the personnelwork.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the HanoiPeople’s Committee Nguyen Van Suu presented a report on the capital city’ssocio-economic development over the past time, with the gross regional domesticproduct (GRDP) expanding 3.27 percent in the first nine months of this year, a 1.54-foldhigher than the national average.

Secretary of the municipal Party Committee and head ofthe delegation Vuong Dinh Hue said the issues raised by local voters andresidents are being settled by departments, agencies and localities.

Reviewing major activities recently held by Hanoi, theofficial said the events, particularly the municipal Party Congress, have beenhighly valued by local voters and residents.

The 10th session of the 14th-tenure NA is scheduled toopen on October 20 and last for 19 days, with both online and face-to-facemeetings, NA Secretary General and Chairman of the NA Office Nguyen Hanh Phuchas said.

He told a press conference on October 19 thatlegislators will convene meetings via videoconference from October 20 to 27 andgather in Hanoi for face-to-face discussions from November 2 to 17.

During the seven days to be spent on law-making, theywill vote on seven draft laws and three draft resolutions and give comment onfour bills.

The NA is set to look into the implementation outcomesof socio-economic development and State budget plans for 2020; NA resolutionson socio-economic development, economic restructuring, and financial andmedium-term public investment plans for 2015-2020; and the NA’s Resolution100/2015/QH13 that approved investment policies for national target programmesfor 2016-2020.

Phuc noted that lawmakers will also scrutinisesocio-economic development, State budget, and central budget allocation plansfor 2021; socio-economic development targets, tasks, and solutions for2021-2025; and the financial and medium-term public investment plans for thenext five years./.
