Hanoi to offer 15-day free pass for all passengers on Cat Linh-Ha Dong metro line

Hanoi will offer free travel for all passengers on its first metro line Cat Linh – Ha Dong during the first 15 days after the line is put into operation, according to Director of the city’s Department of Transport Vu Van Vien.

Hanoi (VNA) – Hanoi will offer free travelfor all passengers on its first metro line Cat Linh – Ha Dong during the first 15days after the line is put into operation, according to Director of the city’sDepartment of Transport Vu Van Vien.

Vien said as soon as it receives the handover of themetro line from the Ministry of Transport, his department will put it intoservice.

“Hanoi has been fully prepared for the conditionaltakeover to operate the project in the first phase and the first phase means ayear,” he said.

The city has been cooperating with the Ministry ofTransport to provide all necessary conditions for the operation of the projectfor months.

The quality assessment results of the metro line wereapproved by the State Council for Acceptance of Construction Projects onOctober 29. It is the final step for the project to begin commercial operation.

It has an elevated line of more than 13 km with 12stations and 13 trains. Each train, whose designed speed is 80 km per hour, hasfour carriages capable of carrying over 900 passengers.

The trial run was completed in December 2020, with morethan 70,000 km of tests on thousands of trips, enabling the system to operatecommercially.

Started in 2011, the project has suffered numeroussetbacks and delays.

The Hanoi People’s Committee has announced the price ofthe tickets for the Cat Linh-Ha Dong metro, with the lowest one being 8,000 VND(0.35 USD) for a trip and 30,000 VND for a day pass.

A monthly pass for a common passenger is priced at 200,000VND./.
