Hanoi to hold major medical expo

The Vietnam International Hospital, Medical and Pharmaceutical Exhibition (Vietnam Medi-Pharm Expo 2014) will be held in Hanoi from May 14-17 with the participation of 350 businesses from 30 countries and territories.

The 21st exposition will introduce visitorsthe latest products and technologies in the healthcare sector of Vietnamand the world at large.

A wide range of products, such asmedicines, health equipment and laboratory and pharmaceutical items willbe put on show across 450 pavilions.

Organised inconcurrence with the expo will be the seventh Vietnam InternationalHospital Exhibition (Vietnam Hospital 2014), the third VietnamInternational Dental Exhibition (Vietnam Dental 2014) and the eighthChina Exhibition on Pharmaceutical and Medical Equipment (ChinaMedi-Pharm 2014).

The event will also include free medicalcheck-ups and campaigns raising the public awareness of measures againstHIV/AIDS as well as a meeting responding to the World HypertensionDay.-VNA

A 2023 report by the Vietnam Health Economics Association estimated that the total cost of tobacco-related healthcare and economic losses reached 108 trillion VND (4.14 billion USD) annually – equivalent to 1.14% of GDP and five times higher than the budget revenue generated by the tobacco industry.
