Hanoi to clear all traffic accident black spots

Hanoi has set a target of reducing at least 15 percent of its traffic bottlenecks and clear all notorious accident black spots this year, in a bid to improve its traffic situation.

Accordingly, the city has asked all management agencies to launch morecampaigns to raise transport businesses and citizens’ awareness oftraffic order and safety.

The agencies have beenasked to rearrange parking lots on main streets in the inner districtsof Hoan Kiem, Dong Da, Ba Dinh, and Cau Giay, while keeping a closewatch on places where congestions and accidents are easy to occur anddealing with traffic violations.

Additionally, moreactivities are required to improve officials’ capacity as well as thetraining and management of drivers. More investment is needed to bepoured into the city’s transport system.

This year,Hanoi strives to reduce 5-10 percent of the number of trafficaccident cases and related fatalities and injuries as compared to 2013.-VNA
