Hanoi sees strong surge in health insurance coverage

Hanoi (VNA) –Nearly 83 percent of Hanoi’s population joined voluntary health insurance, soaringfrom 63 percent in 2012, said Nguyen Duc Hoa, Deputy Director of the ܫmunicipalSocial Insurance Agency on April 18.

According to Hoa, theoutcome was attributed to many localities’ creative and effective measures. Forexample, Party members encouraged their relatives to join health and socialinsurance. Each commune or ward set a target of having at least 1,000 healthinsurance holders and the figure is more than 1,500 people for a new-stylerural commune.

The agency has planned to increase interdisciplinary and specialisedinspections in late 2017, as well as publish information regarding health andsocial insurance on the city’s portal, aiming to protect rights of local workers.

Vietnam has set to have at least 90 percent of itspopulation covered with health insurance by 2020 with some localities assignedto increase their health insurance holders to nearly 100 percent.

Health insurance covered 81.7 percent of V𝓡ietnam’s population in 2016, 2.7percent higher than the target set by the Prime Minister, according to theVietnam Social Security.-VNA

Vietnam, Frඣance collaborate in vaccine production technology transfer

Under the agreement, VNVC and Sanofi will gradually implement technology transfers to enable domestic production of several key Sanofi vaccines that are widely used in Vietnam. In addition, Sanofi will support VNVC in training human resources and quality management in vaccine research and manufacturing.
