Hanoi (VNA) - The Hanoi Health Departmenthas announced the first death from dengue fever since the beginning of thisyear.
The Central Tropical Diseases Hospital on May 21 confirmed that a 19-year-old student who rented a house in Dong Da District’s Trung Liet Ward died of dengue.
In Hanoi, the number of patients with denguefever has shown a tendency of increasing since early this month, with 27 casesrecorded in the last two weeks. 

Since the beginning of the year, the city hasrecorded more than 700 cases of dengue fever, up 2.1 times compared with thesame period last year, according to the statistics of thepreventive health centre.

Most of the cases were reported in the districtsof Dong Da, Hoang Mai, Hai Ba Trung and Thanh Xuan.

The city’s Department of Health has directedmedical units to strengthen the implementation of measures to prevent thedisease, particularly, providing information on the epidemic situation tolocals and guiding them on how to prevent the disease.

Dengue is a viral infection transmitted by thebite of an infected mosquito. There is no specific vaccine and treatmentfor dengue. - VNA

ꩵ Vietnam, France collaborate in vaccine production technology transfer

Under the agreement, VNVC and Sanofi will gradually implement technology transfers to enable domestic production of several key Sanofi vaccines that are widely used in Vietnam. In addition, Sanofi will support VNVC in training human resources and quality management in vaccine research and manufacturing.
