Hanoi (VNA) – Hanoi’s authorities have presented more than 387,000 giftpackages valued at over 156 billion VND (6.7 million USD) to social policybeneficiaries on the occasion of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27).
Of those, 121,792 gift packages presented by the President were handed over toHeroic Vietnamese Mothers, war invalids, sick soldiers and Agent Orange (AO)/dioxinvictims.
The city also granted 121,663 gifts worth 95 trillion VND (4.05 million USD) whichwas sourced from its budget to the social policy beneficiaries.
On this occasion, municipal officials visited and presented gifts to 45 units,including centres for national contributors and AO victims, the municipal AOvictims association, and production and business facilities run by local warinvalids and sick soldiers.
Seventy two outstanding individuals also received gifts, each worth 2.5 millionVND (107.5 USD), from the city.
Hanoi’s districts and towns allocated their budgets and mobilised financialsupport from different economic sectors to present 54,455 gifts valued at over21 billion VND (903,000 USD) to the beneficiaries.
The city’s gratitude fund has so far this year raised more than 30.6 billionVND (1.31 million USD) in support of the group of people.-VNA
A ceremony was held in the Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long on July 22 to present certificates honouring 468 families of fallen soldiers, as part of the activities to mark the 72nd anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27).
Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Doan Mau Diep visited the Lang Giang war-invalids nursing home in the northern province of Bac Giang on July 22, as well as presented gifts and 10 million VND (430 USD) to the invalids on the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day.
A ceremony was held in the southern province of Tay Ninh on July 23 to pay tribute to heroic martyrs and re-bury remains of fallen soldiers found in the province and repatriated from Cambodia.
