Hanoi leader, health minister expelled from Party for violations

Hanoi (VNA) – The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) on June 6 decided to expel its members Chu Ngoc Anh, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, and Nguyen Thanh Long, Health Minister, from the Party.
The decision was made at the Party Central Committee’s extraordinary meeting, after considering the proposal from the Politburo as well as the content, consequences and causes of the two officials' violations.
Anh is Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee and Secretary of the Party delegation to the municipal People’s Committee, former Secretary of the Party delegation to the Ministry of Science and Technology and former Minister of Science and Technology, while Long is Secretary of the Party delegation to the health ministry.
The Party Central Committee also asked competent agencies to urgently take administrative punishments on them.
Earlier, the Politburo gave warning as a disciplinary measure to the Party delegations to the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Health in the 2016-2021 tenure over their wrongdoings./.
Disciplinary measures have been issued for current and former officials of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the State Securities Commission of Vietnam (SSC) for previous wrongdoings.
The Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee’s Inspection Board has disciplined seven Party members for their involvement in four cases monitored by the Central Steering Committee for Corruption and Negative Phenomena Prevention and Control.
President Nguyen Xuan Phuc chaired the third session of the steering committee for developing a project on a strategy for building and perfecting Vietnam’s law-governed socialist state to 2030 with orientations to 2045, held in Hanoi on May 31.
