Hanoi launches regional biodiversity conservation initiative
In line with guidance from the Government Office and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the capital has assigned its Department of Agriculture and Environment to raise public awareness and disseminate legal knowledge on biodiversity conservation and resource use.
Hanoi (VNA) – ♐The Hanoi People’s Committee has issued a dispatch on the implementation of a regional linkage project for the sustainable use of biodiversity resources in natural and heritage reserves across the Red River Delta.
In line with guidance from the Government Office and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the capital has assigned its Department of Agriculture and Environment to raise public awareness and disseminate legal knowledge on biodiversity conservation and resource use.
Other tasks for the department include coordinating ecosystem maintenance efforts in the Huong Son Nature Reserve to protect the endangered Delacour's langurs and implementing conservation measures for wild and migratory birds in the Van Lang area between 2026 and 2030.
The city’s Department of Tourism has been tasked with developing an ecotourism linkage model between nature reserves in the Red River Delta. Key efforts will include promoting ecotourism in the Ba Vi National Park and fostering community-based tourism tied to agriculture and rural culture at the Huong Son relic complex from 2026 to 2030.
Relevant departments, agencies, and commune-level authorities have been directed to proactively coordinate and effectively carry out assigned responsibilities, particularly in preserving the region’s natural and heritage ecosystems./.
On July 6, the event “Echoes of the Past – 25 Years of Empowerment and Continuation” was held in Hanoi to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the UNESCO Hanoi Traditional Music Club and to officially launch the Hanoi-based UNESCO centre for the preservation of traditional performing arts.
