Visiting Chairwoman of Johannesburg City Council of South Africa Constance Bapela suggested a further connection between her city with Hanoi in the coming time, especially in trade, culture tourism.
During a meeting with Chairwoman of the Hanoi People’s Council Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc in the capital city on August 17, Bapela shared that Johannesburg and her country in general always attaches importance to protecting the right of women.
She said she hopes that the visit to Vietnam will offered a good chance for the delegation to learn from Vietnam’s experience in the field.
For her part, Ngoc affirmed that Vietnam always creates the most favorable conditions for women to push themselves, especially in joining in political activities.
The Vietnamese Government has set up the National Committee for the Advancement of Women, while the National Assembly has issued the Law on Gender Equality in order to ensure the right and legitimate interest of women, she stated.
Ngoc said she hopes that Hanoi and Johannesburg - the largest city of South Africa – will enhance meetings and exchanges in the future, thus boosting their multifaceted links.-VNA
