Hanoi (VNA)♊ – Hanoi’s Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union held a ceremony in Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature) on October 2 evening to honour 100 valedictorians from the capital city-based universities this year.
This is the 22nd year that Hanoi has commended valedictorians from tertiary establishments in the city, demonstrating the city's attention to education.
Secretary of the Youth Union Chu Hong Minh said that promoting the traditional values of treasuring education and honouring talents, for many years, the municipal Party Committee and authorities have implemented various policies to attract, nurture, and utilise talented individuals, with an aim to harness internal resources to develop the capital city in an increasingly modern, civilised, integrated, and sustainable manner.
The valedictorians are potential young officers of the city in particular and the country at large. They are also typical examples of young, creative and dynamic intellectuals who are also active in scientific research, startups and community activities./.
Hanoi is striving to achieve an urbanization rate of about 60-62% by 2025 and approximately 65-75% by 2030, with 3-5 urban areas having their brands recognized regionally and internationally.
For the 2024-2025 academic year, Hanoi's education sector continues to lead the nation in terms of scale, with nearly 2.3 million students, over 130,000 staff members, and 2,913 schools. To address the shortage of school facilities due to rapid population growth, the city has built new schools at all levels, some of which are completed on time to mark the 70th anniversary of Hanoi's Liberation (October 10, 1954- 2024).
As a major administrative centre of Vietnam, the capital city regards digital transformation as a top priority to enhance governance, facilitate administrative procedures, and connect with citizens and businesses.
The programmes have brought about positive changes to rural infrastructure, comprehensively improved the material and spiritual lives of farmers, and contributed to Vietnam's economic restructuring, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.
The festival highlighted the contributions and robust development of Vietnam's revolutionary press over the past century while promoting press products and showcasing the creativity of Vietnamese journalists.
The programme on sustainable poverty reduction has achieved its annual targets for reducing the poverty rate as assigned by the National Assembly and the Government. It has fulfilled five specific objectives and five five-year goals, and met nine out of 12 indicators related to addressing basic social service shortages.
