Hanoi exhibition spotlights Japanese culture

An exhibition displaying items and materials on Japanese culture and introducing Vietnam-Japan cultural exchange activities opened in the Vietnam National Museum of History in Hanoi on January 16.

The event was organised by the museum inconjunction with the General Department of Japanese Cultureand the Kyushu National Museum.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and TourismDang Thi Bich Lien underlined the significance of culture and exchangesin promoting the image of each country to international friends.

She stressed that the Vietnamese Party and State always pay specialattention to create the best conditions to widely promote the country’scultural heritages and expand cultural exchange and cooperation withJapan.

Events held in both countries in recent yearshave helped foster mutual understanding between the two people,strengthening the close ties and friendship between the two nations,said Lien, adding that the exhibition also helps Vietnamese citizens,especially young people, learn more about Japanese culture.

On display are 70 objects depicting Japan’s history and traditionalculture as well as the trade history between Vietnam and Japan. Theyreflect different periods in Japan’s past as well as cultural exchangesbetween Japan and other countries.

On the occasion,the “Cool Japan Fukuoka” programme was also organised at the museum tointroduce Vietnamese people to Japan’s modern culture exclusively foryoung people through cultural products manufactured by enterprisesoperating in Fukuoka prefecture.
