The capital city of Hanoi is speeding up the building and repair of nearly 7,300 houses for social policy beneficiaries and revolutionary contributors, with a view to complete the work before July 27, which was designated as War Invalids and Martyrs' Day.

Of those, 3,520 new houses are being constructed and 3,778 others are beingrepaired, with an estimated cost of almost 379 billion VND (16.7 million USD),sourced from the State budget.
Khuat Van Thanh, Director of the municipal Department of Labour,Invalids and Social Affairs, said the implementation of the programme facesvarious obstacles.
Some of these difficulties are the large number of recipients and unclearcriteria for deteriorated houses, thus making it hard to decide the level offinancial assistance.
Thanh suggested a number of measures to these issues, including fasterdisbursement of the construction funds, which should be updated followingcurrent market prices.-VNA
