Hanoi, Australia’s Victoria state enhance cooperation

The capital city of Hanoi expects further cooperation with Australia’s Victoria state and hopes the two sides will set up twining relations in the time ahead, said Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung.

Hanoi (VNA) – Thecapital city of Hanoi expects further cooperation with Australia’s Victoria stateand hopes the two sides will set up twining relations in the time ahead, saidChairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung.

Hosting a reception forGovernor of Victoria Linda Dessau on September 30, Chung expressed his delight atthe growing collaborative ties between the two localities since 2016,particularly in the fields of investment, tourism and education.

He briefed the guest on Hanoi’ssocio-economic achievements in the past time, while saying rapid urbanisationhas posed tremendous challenges to the local authorities such as environmentalpollution, traffic jam and increasing number of immigrants, among others.

Chung took the occasion to thank Australia and Victoria state for their supportin organising the Formula One Vietnam Grand Prix in 2020.

The chairman asked Melbourne,capital of Victoria state, to assist Hanoi in training management officials anddeveloping audit business network.

The governor, for her part,laid stress on Melbourne’s strength in holding large-scale sport events andexporting innovative technologies in the field, saying both sides have enjoyedsound cooperation in the sector.

She also affirmed Melbournecan back Hanoi in the fields that Chung has mentioned.

The two officials then witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understandingbetween the municipal People’s Committee and RMIT University./.
