Hanoi adds 15 new buses

Hanoi (VNA) – Fifteen new high-quality buses with capacity of 60 seats each wereput into operation on two routes in Hanoi from June 1.

Accordingto the Hanoi Transport Service Company (Transerco), the new buses will runon routes 55A (Cau Giay-Times City) and 55B (Cau Giay-Aeon Mall Trade Centre).

The busesare painted blue, have a logo and offer conveniences such as advanced emissionstandards, free WiFi, Light Emitting Diode bulletin boards showingroutes and a Global Positioning System (GPS) that announces stops.

Routes55A and 55B run every 15 to 20 minutes from 5am to 9pm everyday with ticketprice of 7,000 VND (0.3 USD) per trip.

A leading Transerco official said since early thisyear, the company has launched 166 new buses to provide more cheap andconvenient means of public transport for the capital’s citizens.

From June1, Transerco expands the itinerary of 22A (Gia Lam bus station-Big C Thang LongTrade Centre), 22B (Kien Hung Urban Area-My Dinh coach station) and 22C (Giap Batcoach station-Duong Noi Urban Area of The Sparks Nam Cuong apartmentbuilding) routes.

Nguyen HoangHai, director of the Hanoi Urban Traffic Management Centre, said the routechanges were aimed at better accessibility to urban areas and transport ofpassengers to promote operation of Bus Rapid Transit route Kim Ma-Yen Nghia.-VNA
